What is Uranian Astrology?

Example Uranian 90-degree dial

Uranian Astrology is an advanced system in Western Astrology. It was developed by Alfred Witte in the early twentieth century. He formulated Uranian Planets, which are hypothetical energy points that have orbits, similar to Nodes and Black Moon Lilith.

Instead of 12 houses; Uranian Astrology is based on 90° dial system with no houses, but uses midpoints, asteroids, aspect patterns and some calculations.

In this system, 0, 45°, 90 and 135° aspects are mainly used. 150° aspect is easily visible too.
This is the chart of tension, mostly based on triggering aspects. As there are tight and stressful aspects, it is almost sure that something will happen there.

So, the aspect system that Uranian astrology uses is very detailed and action-based, as you are kind of like folding the chart into four then looking into it with a magnifying glass. This reveals the patterns that we cannot easily see in any other house systems.

This is the reason why asteroids are used more or are easier to use in Uranian Astrology. Rather than personality traits; asteroids mostly reveal actions that will make us who we are. As a result, detailed vision of Uranian Astrology helps us analyze asteroids better.

So, what is the difference? Let’s say you have:

- Venus in 5° Cancer,

- Sun in 28°Aries,

- Moon in 10° Aquarius,

- Mars in 7° Virgo:

Normally, there are no major aspects among these; but when the chart is folded into four; they are forming a cardinal cross of stressful aspects; which means they will play out some action in your life. Basically, this chart system shows what pushes you and makes you crack your shell.

For this reason, Uranian Astrology tracks the timing of events, age periods, eclipse activation points better. It is way reliable to make predictions and do chart rectifications in Uranian Astrology.

- Uranian Planets, (Cupido, Hades, Zeus etc.) contacts will set the tone.

- Asteroids will reveal details of what, who, when, how…

- Midpoints will reveal how that energy will be released. (Such as Venus/Sun=Jupiter).

- Some calculations like Sun + Sun, Saturn + Jupiter, Saturn – Moon; will have different meanings.

If you are an astrology enthusiast, you can get amazed by these. If you are completely new to astrology, and never had your chart done; these will be too complicated to start with.

So, I recommend an understanding of your regular birth chart first. :)
